Bernadette Aguirre (she/her/siya), Clinical Herbalist

As a lifelong city-dweller, I grew up eating herbs and vegetables growing in a modest garden that was mainly tended by my mother.

Both of my parents were raised on farms in the Philippines, amidst hovering mango trees and in between the moist air where rice paddies lay. It's no wonder that plants' nourishing powers have always found a home in my medicine cabinet or boiling on my stove.

As a herbal practitioner, my approach is to picture a bird's eye view of my client's external environment and gently hone in on how they may be feeling from the inside, out. This framework is centered around Energetic Herbalism, which matches the attributes and spirit of herbs to the state of a person's mind and body.

My holistic health knowledge comes from a composition of herbal traditions of my Filipino ancestral roots and Western Herbalism, with cues from Ayurveda, and Traditional Chinese Medicine. Integrating herbs, nourishing foods, and movement should be simple and we'll come up with ways to make it work for you.

I support general health through the lens of traditional herbalism, with an emphasis on the following:

MY FAVORITE PLANT / MORINGA

MORINGA

Moringa (Moringa oleifera) - My family has been using this plant for generations, stewing it with rice porridge and chicken soup. A core memory is when I help my grandmother and mother patiently pick off the hundreds of tiny leaves from their stems. Moringa is an adaptogen that's high in antioxidants and an anti-inflammatory.
